Echinoidea is a comfortable reversible scarf that can be buttoned up to be worn as a double cowl, or draped loosely around your shoulders.

YARDAGE

Approximately 550 yards (500 m) of bulky weight wool yarn. Lighter fibers like alpaca or mohair are suggested.

SUGGESTED YARN
  • The Plucky Knitter Snug (70% Merino, 20% Cashmere goat, 10% Alpaca; 110 yards (101 m)/100 g)
  • Malabrigo Yarn Mecha (100% Merino; 130 yards (119 m)/100 g)

 

Sample knitted with fingering weight yarn, 4 strands held together (100% organic mohair; 650 yards (600 m)/100 g) in hand dyed colorway.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
  • Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 10” or 14” straight needles or 32” circular needles
  • Size US 11 (8.0 mm) 10” or 14” straight needles or 32” circular needles
  • Blunt tapestry needle
  • Four 1 1/4” (31 mm) buttons
  • Four 1/2” (12 mm) or smaller buttons
GAUGE

18 stitches and 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in Echinoidea Pattern on larger needles
